What to Bring

Volunteer tax preparers from AARP and VITA recommend bringing the following to your appointment:

• ORIGINAL Social Security cards & correct birthdates for all family members (No copies)
• Photo IDs (If filing jointly, both spouses must present an ID and be present)
• Last year’s federal income tax return
• W-2 forms for all jobs worked during the current tax year
• All 1098 forms (for mortgage, higher education expenses, etc)
• All 1099 & other income forms
• Form 1095-A (ACA Healthcare)
• Amount of any income not reported on a statement
• Records of deductible/qualified expenses not shown on a statement
• A voided check and/or savings account number for direct-deposit (encouraged)
• Childcare provider info (name, address, tax ID/social security number)



AARP Tax Aide

AARP Tax Aide, provided by the AARP Foundation, provides FREE tax preparation for low-and moderate-income taxpayers, with special attention to those over 50. All taxes are filed electronically by IRS-certified volunteer tax preparers. You do not have to be an AARP member to use Tax Aide services.

AARP Tax Aide services generally start in February.

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program is supported by United Way Suncoast and Step Up Suncoast. IRS trained and certified volunteers are available to assist residents with tax preparation.
